“Blaze peels back the curtains of our world’s desires, and reveals the beasts lurking behind. Packed with relevant topics and worldview, the book draws readers into a white-knuckle adventure where anything can happen—and anything can go wrong.” - Caroline George, author of The Vestige

Blaze will benefit younger readers because Hope is close in age to the target audience (14-18 year-old students). The book tackles themes such as holding strong to one’s identity while thriving in a new culture. The book has also been edited by all young editors who are plugged into the audience needs of the time. Two of these editors are professional writing major and literary agent Alyssa Roat and professional writing graduate and copywriter Katie Hiegel (’18).

“The main thing I remember about editing Blaze is that it was very clever,” Hiegel said. “I enjoyed reading and editing it because it was witty and vivid. I also appreciated the source material and found myself wanting to look for the parallels in the story.”

Hope landed a deal at Lighthouse Publishing of the Carolinas imprint IlluminateYA. According to their website, they’re looking for clean YA fiction that inspires teens (
